Dutch cyclist Laurine van Riessen managed to avoid a crash by riding up onto a trackside barrier before looping back on to the velodrome

there was a crash in Laurine’s heat during the women’s keirin at the Rio 2016 Olympics, with Spanish rider Tania Calvo and France’s Virginie Cueff touching wheels, sending Calvo to the ground and Cueff swerving drastically towards van Riessen.

The Dutch rider’s speed sent her round the barrier and carried her back onto the track, resulting in a predictable amount of praise
