was there some old superstition about clothes pins on the fuel line?

it seems to me I've heard something about that a long time ago

  1. Jesse, it sometimes helps with vapor locking be insulating the fuel line from the engine heat. Pretty common trick on flatties back in the day

  2. It was supposed to prevent vapor lock

  3. My first time racing my street car at the drags (1972 Plymouth Duster 340), it vapor locked. One of the old-timers told me to run to the "snack shack" and ask for a couple hot dog wrappers (aluminum foil). Sure enough that did the trick.

I've also heard of using clothes pins, but never tried it.

    1. I bet insulation would work better, and I can't think why wood on a small piece of fuel line would have any effect of any kind on vapor lock
